Obituary

Keith Duane Wilson, age 91, a longtime resident of Wheaton, IL and a former longtime resident of Baltimore, MD, passed away from Alzheimer's disease on Saturday, December 10th, 2022, in Ogden Dunes, IN. He was born November 13, 1931, in Piqua, OH.

Keith had many pleasant memories of growing up in farm country in Fletcher, Ohio. Keith attended Albion College in Michigan until his father passed away. At that time, he moved to Maryland to be closer to his mother. He graduated from Towson State Teachers College with a degree in Education. At college he was an award-winning Cross Country and Track and Field runner. After college he began working as a teacher in the Baltimore area. He met his future wife Mary Lou Codman when she was attending Goucher College in Towson, MD. They were married in 1960. In Towson, Keith and Mary Lou started a family, having Laurie Anne in 1962 and then Bruce Eric in 1964.

In education, Keith's career progressed from elementary teacher to school principal. He was loved and respected by his staff. In 1966, he and his family enjoyed a year of living in Vienna, Austria where he served as a curriculum consultant at the American International School. In 1984, Keith retired as an educator and he and Mary Lou relocated to Wheaton, IL for her international work in missions and graduate education. That move also brought them closer to Laurie and Bruce who were attending Wheaton College in Illinois. After a brief retirement, Keith started a new career with Pioneer Clubs in Carol Stream, IL where he loved his role as Warehouse Manager and enjoyed keeping a vegetable garden.

Keith had a strong faith since he was a young man. After the end of the Korean War, he served in the Army with the distinguished 82nd Airborne. If asked, he would describe praying during this time to take his faith and his relationship with God more seriously. Throughout his life he was devoted to reading the Bible and prayer. He talked openly about God and encouraged others to persevere in faith. He and Mary Lou attended churches in their local communities and participated in a variety of mission ministries. After retirement from Pioneer Clubs, Keith remained supportive of Mary Lou's ongoing ministry to internationals where they gained many lifelong friends. Keith loved the game of lacrosse, playing ping-pong, welcoming and hosting, attending his grandchildren's events, and being a part of family gatherings. He enjoyed reading history books and serving others. He was a devoted son, brother, husband, father, and grandfather.

Keith is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dr. Mary Lou Codman-Wilson; his two children, Laurie (Scott) Macy of Seattle, WA, and Dr. Bruce (Becky) Wilson of Orlando, FL; his sister, Marilynn (Tom) Cox; his five grandchildren, Claire (Scott) Nellessen, Audrey (Caleb) Taylor, Grant Macy, Sam (fiancé Rachel LeGendre) Wilson and Graham Wilson; and two great-grandchildren, Eloise Taylor and Clark Nellessen.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Grace (the late Charlie) McClure.
