Kathy Scanio, age 66, a lifelong resident of Wheaton and Glen Ellyn, died Sunday, August 10, at home. She was born on October 1, 1941 in Chicago.
She was a graduate of Glenbard West High School in Glen Ellyn and the University of IL at Champaign with a degree in music. For over 30 years Kathy has shared her music with her church. Since 1991 she has been teaching piano lessons at the Bloomingdale School of Music. For many years she has volunteered to play for church services and Du Page Convalescent Center and other facilities. She felt that her music was a gift from God and treated it as a mission.
She is survived by her husband, Ross, four children, Cynthia (Michael) Sliwinski of Franklin Park,Carl (Kim) Knable of Elmhurst, Matthew (Lisa) Knable of Villa Park, and Julie Kalnbach of Wheaton, two step children, Ross Scanio of TX, and Anthony (Stacy) Scanio of AZ, 16 grandchildren and three brothers and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August, 13, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Wheaton Bible Church, where services will be held on Thursday, August 13, at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. John White officiating. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery.
