Kathryn R. Iverson, age 87, a resident of Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream, died Saturday, December 4, at Windsor's Johnson Healthcare Center. She was born July 10, 1917 in Charleston, IL.
As a young girl, Kathryn was a Girl Scout and was proud of earning her Eagle Scout. During World War II she served in the Red Cross as a Gray Lady.
Kathryn was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton, serving as a Deacon and with the JUST Program. She was also active in the Presbyterian Women's Association and served on a number of committees. She was a Stephen's Minister at the church. She was one of the earliest residents of Windsor Park Manor, having lived there for almost 18 years. She worked as a Family Liason at the DuPage Convalescent Center and also expanded and ran the Apparel Shop for many years.
She is survived by her son, William (Kathleen Swartz) of Winfield; her nephew, James Preece of Payson, AZ, and her niece, Lynn Taylor of Greensboro, NC.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy; and her son, Donald.
A visitation will be held on Monday, December 6, from 3-9 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. Interment will be private at Forest Home Cemetery in Forest Park. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 9, at 10:00 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton, corner of Jefferson and Ellis Sts., in Wheaton.
