Kathleen Nelson, age 83, a resident of Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream and formerly a longtime resident of Wheaton, died Friday, September 2 at the Johnson Medical Center at Windsor Park Manor. She was born on September 6, 1921 in Stephenson, MI to Mark and Maria McElwee.

Kathleen was a longtime member of St. Michael Church. She volunteered at Central Du Page Hospital and Marianjoy.

She is survived by Maureen Greger of Wheaton, Bill Nelson of Wheaton, and Jim (Janice) Nelson of Glen Ellyn, five grandchildren, Beth, Abby, Tom, Jessie, and Phil, one sister, Mary Raboine of Stephenson, MI and one brother, Pat McElwee of Milwaukee, WI. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Nelson in 1988 and her parents.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 6 from 11 a.m. until 12:30 at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton. Prayers will follow at 12:30 followed by a 1:00 mass at St. Daniel the Prophet Church, 101 W. Loop Rd. in Wheaton. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Wheaton.
