Kathleen McFadden, age 67, a resident of Wheaton, formerly of LaGrange Park, passed away, Monday, December 26, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois. She was born September 25, 1949 in Chicago to Robert and Patricia Nolan.

Kathy grew up in Bridgeview and LaGrange. She graduated from Mount Assisi Academy in Lemont and from the College of DuPage. She married Thomas McFadden in December of 1969. She stayed at home to raise their children until 1993. She worked in real estate, interior design and customer service until 2004.

She was a great person. First and foremost, she loved being a wife, mom and grandmother. She made each and every one of them feel so special and she had her ways of doing it. She always put others first and was there for them in difficult and joyful times. Her selflessness was inspiring. She really enjoyed decorating her house. Design was one of her favorite things to do. Her home was always so cozy and decked out for all of the holidays. She enjoyed Christmas and Easter, but Halloween had the biggest place in her heart, as it was happening during her favorite season, fall. She always found enjoyment in raking leaves. She also loved to bake and had yearly traditions of making pies and cookies. Tradition was very important to her and she wanted to know more about her ancestry. Genealogy was one of her interests, as was astrology. Crochet and art were her hobbies she enjoyed and was passing down her love for it to her children and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas McFadden, two children, Jennifer (Darren) Gregory of Greensboro, NC, and Joshua (Jurgita) McFadden of Wheaton, four grandchildren, Kendall Gregory, Marija, Austin and William McFadden. She is also survived by four siblings, Steven (Theresa) Nolan, Daniel (Patrice) Nolan, Mary (Robert) Zitzka and Barbara Nolan and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, January 2, 2017 from 3 to 9 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. A mass will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery.
