Kathleen Anne "Neen" Gilbert, age 81, a resident of Wheaton since 1978, passed away surrounded by her family on December 29, 2015. She was born September 24, 1934 in Chicago to Joseph and Gertrude Kiely.

She graduated from Sienna High School in Chicago. On May 3, 1958 she married Sheldon Gilbert. They lived in Chicago and Oak Park where they raised three children.

She enjoyed travel and visited 49 of the 50 states. Spending time with her grandchildren was something she greatly enjoyed and looked forward to every day.

She is survived by her husband, Sheldon Gilbert, three children, Kathy (Bruce) Patterson of Colfax, IL, Kevin (Cindy) Gilbert of Geneva, IL and Tim (Laurie) Gilbert of Sycamore, IL, nine grandchildren, Roger, Eddie, Adam, Palmer, Blaine, Julie, Kiely, Mary Kate and Rachel and one great-granddaughter, Sophia. She is also survived by one sister, Joanne (Eddie) Logue and three brothers, Robert (Midge) Kiely, Michael Kiely and Thomas (Sherrill) Kiely, sister-in-law Marie Kiely and many cousins and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings, Joseph Kiely, Mary Barrett and John Kiely.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, January 3, from 2 to 7 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, where a funeral will be held on Monday, January 4 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hillside, Illinois.
