Kathleen Lorraine Code, age 84, a longtime resident of Wheaton, died on Friday, April 25 at home. She was born on August 3, 1923 in Decatur, IL to Theodore and Elizabeth Brinkoetter.

She graduated from St. Theresa High School in Decatur in 1937 and graduated from St. Joseph School of Nursing in Alton as an R.N. She married Edmund Code on January 8, 1949 at St. James Catholic Church in Decatur. Kathy worked as a nurse for the Du Page County Youth Home from 1972 until 1996. She was active as a committee member for Illinois Citizens for Life Project Love and active with St. Michael CCW.

She is survived by six children, Colleen Kaspari of Carol Stream, Connie (Frederick) Nora of Pensacola, FL, David (Betsy) Code of Houston, TX, Patrick (Sonna) Code of Medford, OR, Michael (Cathy) Code of Naperville, and Kathleen (Pat) Kyer of McKinney, TX, 15 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and many good friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one son, John Joseph Code, five brothers and five sisters.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 29 from 4 until 9 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton, where prayers will will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. followed by a 10:00 mass at St. Daniel the Prophet Church, 101 W. Loop Rd. in Wheaton. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Decatur, Illinois on Thursday at 1:00 p.m.
