Kathleen A. Bernard, age 63, a resident of Wheaton, and formerly of Las Vegas, NV, and Westchester, IL, died Sunday, December 4, at the DuPage Convalescent Center in Wheaton. She was born August 27, 1942 in Chicago.
In 1995, Kathleen was a very proud graduate of the University of Nevada in Las Vegas with a degree in Sociology at the age of 53. She later worked at the Department of Motor Vehicles in Las Vegas where she gained a number of life-long friends.
She is survived by her three children, Stacey (Carl) Boutilier of Wheaton, Jeanine (Mark) Zanoni of Wheaton, and Burke (fiance Annette Lotz) Matyas of Glen Ellyn; four grandchildren, Meggan, Jordan, Nick, and Joe; two brothers, Bill and Dan Griffin; and her first husband and friend, Sam (Peggy Brennan-Matyas) Matyas.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Tom Griffin.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 8, at 3:00 P.M. at College Church in Wheaton, corner of Washington and Seminary, in Wheaton. Interment is private.
