Karin Carlson Nelson, age 51, a resident of Ashton, IL, died Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at Rush Medical Center in Chicago, IL. She was born July 10, 1963 in Naperville, IL.
Karin was a beloved wife, mother, sister and friend. She married Tom Nelson in 1987 and gave birth to four beautiful children. Karin had an amazing ability to turn anywhere she was living into a home and make all who entered feel welcome. She held down various jobs outside the home, locally over the years. Her first priority though was always her family. Karin was diagnosed with AML (Acute Myeloid Leukemia) in August, 2014. Through her suffering she experienced a remarkable transformation. She lost her health, but gained a deeper understanding of God and love for His words. Her desire was to be in the presence of Jesus and for others to come to know Him in a personal way. She became rich in faith and love and is now more alive now than ever before! She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her husband of 27 years, Thomas Nelson; her four children, Laura Nelson of Sycamore, IL, Zachary Nelson of Ashton, IL, Matthew (Ashley) Nelson of Temple, TX, and Rebecca Nelson of Ashton, IL; her three siblings, JoAnne (Dale) Marshall of Rockford, IL, Mark Carlson of Glen Ellyn, IL, and Nancy (Richard) McGinn of Winfield, IL; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Pat and Virginia Carlson; and her sister, Cynthia Carlson.
