Obituary

June Ann Hurd, age 86, a resident of Wheaton, passed away on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, peacefully at home. She was born February 12, 1935 in Galesburg, Illinois to Dennis and Edith Baldwin.

June graduated from Kewanee High School in 1953. She went to ISU in 1953 and majored in Special Education and met her future husband, Daniel Hurd. She graduated at Northern IL University, where she earned her Master's Degree.

She taught school in Sycamore, IL, as a Special Education teacher. After retiring from teaching, she and Dan owned and operated Continental Gifts in Wheaton for many years.

She was a member of the Gary Methodist Church in Wheaton for almost 40 years, where she volunteered with PADS for many years and sang in the Women's choir. She was a member at Wheaton Kiwanis club where she played the piano and volunteered for Meals on Wheels.

Her love of music was well known and she enjoyed singing, playing the piano, the harp and organ. She taught piano for many years. Her home was filled with music every holiday and her family will remember the Christmas Carols forever.

June loved traveling with the family and being with her children and grandkids. She also loved musicals and concerts downtown Wheaton. She enjoyed her weekly lunches with her dear friend, Sheila who always made her laugh.

She is survived by her children, Dave (Karen) Hurd, John (Kathy) Hurd and Kimberly Sherman, six grandchildren Jeff, Heather, Jacqui, Matt, Cassie, and Aaron, and 5 great grandkids (with 2 on the way).

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at Gary United Methodist Church, 224 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187.
