Obituary

June E. DuBois, age 78, a resident of Winfield, IL, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026 with family by her side.  She was born June 29, 1947 in Berwyn, IL to Roland & Theresa Betian.

June grew up in Forest Park, Illinois and had 4 sisters and 3 brothers of whom she cherished immensely.  She graduated from Proviso East H.S in 1965, which is where she was introduced to the love of her life William (Bill) DuBois by her beloved cousin.  She dated Bill for 6 years and during this time she enjoyed spending time at coffee shops listening to folk music with Bill. June was always in the stands cheering Bill on while he played basketball during his high school and college years.  On August 16, 1969, June and Bill were married at St. John's Lutheran Church in Forest Park, Illinois.

Early in their marriage they lived in Forest Park until they moved to St. Roberts, Missouri while Bill served in the military.  While in Missouri, June enjoyed hiking (in areas without snakes), fishing and developed friendships that have lasted a lifetime.  In the early 70's when her husband went to Vietnam, June moved back to Forest Park to live with his parents Warren & Caroline DuBois. When June learned that Bill would be returning home from the Vietnam War, she found, rented and fully furnished an apartment for the two of them to live.  They lived in that apartment in Oak Park, Illinois with their Siberian Huskie named Shonde until they moved to Winfield, Illinois in 1976 and became members of Christ Our Savior Lutheran Church.

In 1979, June and husband had their first child Nicole and in 1981 they had their second child Andrew.  While living on Calvin Ct in Winfield, June met neighbors that would become her lifelong friends. In 1984, they moved to their current residence on Oakwood St in Winfield.

June actively volunteered at her kids' school for many activities including making popcorn for which she became known as the "Popcorn Lady".  During the holidays, she would make white chocolate covered pretzels and gift them to all her kids' teachers each year. At this time, she met "The Winfield Ladies" who she would share many laughs with over the years.   She loved watching her daughter ride horses and her son play sports as they grew up.  She continued this tradition by supporting her grandchildren and great grandchildren by never missing an event unless she was on trip to the casino with her husband and friends.  While working a full-time job, June would even drive an hour multiple times a week to be with her grandchildren, so her daughter Nicole could attend school.

June loved taking trips with her husband. During one of their many adventures they stumbled upon Plum Lake in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. This destination would become June and her family's annual vacation spot for the next 50+ years.  Up at Plum Lake, June enjoyed water skiing, swimming, fishing, going to the Sayner Street Fair, game night with the family, dining at Wisconsin Super Clubs while enjoying a good Old Fashioned. Most importantly, she always made sure her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren always had the best vacation possible.

Over the years, June loved the dogs she had in her life especially Piper, socializing with her many friends, playing tennis with her husband, bowling, many trips to a variety of casinos, cooking for family and friends, hunting pheasants, fishing for walleye in Northern Minnesota and Canada, and  most of all she loved her family & friends. They meant everything to her.

The positive impact June has had on all our lives is immeasurable.  She truly cared about others and genuinely wanted nothing but greatness for everyone. She was everyone's #1 fan without judgment or expectation. (A.R.C.)

She is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, William; her children Nicole (Jim) Gregory & Andrew (Laura) DuBois; her grandchildren Caroline (Jacob) Green, Louis E. Horton V, Christopher Horton, Ashlee (Scott) Kocsis, Elizabeth (Jon) Koffenberger,  August Delisi, Samantha Delisi, Christina Delisi & Skyla DuBois; her great-grandchildren: Avalynne, Elliana & Lloyd Green; Olyvia Gregory; and Hunter & Callie Kocsis; her siblings Roland Jr. (Tammy) Betian, Nora Betian & William (Millie) Betian; and very proud Aunt of many. Preceeded in death by her parents Roland & Theresa Betian; her siblings Judith Betian, Dale Ann(the late Gary) Kurbis, Darlene Betian & Daniel Betian; and her niece Kimberly Mosevich.
