Julie Moug, 59, passed away peacefully on May 4, 2018 with her dear friend, Craig, by her side. She was born in Joliet on July 24, 1958 to LaVergne P. Cook and Ronald J. Cook. Julie grew up in Wilmington, IL and later Geneva, IL where she graduated from Geneva High School in 1976.  Julie held many fun occupations over the years such as being a hand model for DOW Chemical Company in her 20's where she was featured on Ziploc bags packaging worldwide for 2 years. She also held a position as an aerobics instructor at Chicago Health Club and later was a travel agent for 10 years where she had the opportunity to travel the world and see over 20 countries. She met Russell Moug while working as a travel agent after booking travel for him and they married in May 1985. In 1988 she welcomed her first daughter, Jessie, and in 1991 her second daughter, Emma, was born. After starting her family, Julie was a stay at home mom. During this time she enjoyed her side hobby and job as a professional sign painter which she learned by studying calligraphy under a master in Chicago. At age 40 she went to college for criminal justice and went on to work at Sheridan Correctional Center as substance abuse counselor with a caseload of 20 inmates. In her mid-50's she was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. After a long battle with the illness she was finally set free.  Julie is preceded in death by her father, Ronald Cook, and her fiancé, Damian Runde. She is survived by her daughters, Jessie and Emma, her mother, LaVergne Cook, her sister, Christy Cook, her niece, Sabrina Ory, and her dear friends Karen and Ginny. Julie's last wishes were to be cremated and to have her ashes spread in Wailea, Hawaii in Maui. She will forever live on in our hearts.
