Julia graduated from Sidell Township schools and moved to Danville, Illinois, working many years at the Western Union Telegraph Company where she met her first husband Bill. After becoming widowed, she later lived in Roberts, Illinois with her second husband Myron and spent her final years in the Wheaton area near family.

Throughout Julia's 99 years, she prioritized her faith in Jesus Christ and love for her family and church community. Julia enjoyed Christian education opportunities, teaching Sunday School and church youth groups, even assisting in her church school's kindergarten well into her 70's. Julia enjoyed the Roberts Community Club and supported the Roberts Gym Board. She loved playing cards, dancing, knitting, hosting family gatherings and traveling, especially to Poudre Canyon in Colorado.

Always a doer and woman of faith, verses that exemplify Julia's long life are 2 Timothy 4:7-8  "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.."
