Obituary for Judson Bruce Synnott III

Judson Bruce Synnott, III, 87, of Naperville, IL, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Bruce was born on December 14, 1938, in Port Arthur, TX, to Judson Bruce Synnott, Jr. and Dorothy Lee Synnott née Sparks.

Bruce was above all a family man. At 18, he married his high school sweetheart, Patricia. They had 8 children together, 3 boys and 5 girls.

Bruce grew up in Houston and attended Bellaire High School, class of 1957. In high school Bruce was on the track team and a member of a Quartet.

Bruce had a scholarship to Rice University in Houston, one of the finest engineering schools in America. Post graduation he went to work for Bell Laboratories, the engineering arm of AT&T. He became a manager for them in Naperville. He has a Master’s degree in Mathematics from Northwestern University, a smart fellow.

After more than 20 years he went to work for a company called (I kid you not) “Internet” who provided computer systems for international Banking operations. He and his wife and two of their children lived in England for several years with this company.

His children can regale stories of their epic vacations across the country camping in the National Parks.

Bruce has been a strong supporter of his church and a good friend to many.

Bruce leaves behind his loving wife of 69 years, Patricia Ann Synnott née McClean, whom he married on 09/06/1957; his devoted children Judson Bruce IV, Daniel Lee, Deborah Ann, Michele Yvonne Davy, Edith Lorene Hanraads, Diane Elizabeth, and James Andrew; his 17 adoring grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren. Bruce is also survived by his brother Lee (Donna Louise) Synnott, sisters-in-law Barbara (William) Comee, Clara McClean Vice, and many nieces and nephews.

Bruce was preceded in passing by his daughter Carol Lynn, his parents, and his sister-in-law Shirley and husband Owen Savage.

The family is hosting a Memorial Service on 10/14/26 from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at The Compass Church, 1551 Hobson Rd, Naperville, IL 60540.
