Judith C. Sharp
December 23, 1930 – January 10, 2025
Judith C. Sharp, 94, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away peacefully on January 10, 2025, at St. Patrick's Residence in Naperville, Illinois. Born on December 23, 1930, Judy grew up in Tolleston, near Gary, Indiana, where she graduated from high school and began her journey of enriching the lives of those around her.
Judy's vibrant personality shone through her first summer job as a singing waitress, where her love for music and joy in connecting with others became apparent. She pursued her passion for caregiving by studying at Mount Sinai Hospital, where she earned her credentials as a Registered Nurse. During this time, she met her first husband, Dr. Sam Solomon. Together, they built a life in Chicago, where Judy dedicated herself to raising their daughter, Kate.
In 1967, Judy married Charles Sharp, following the untimely passing of her first husband. Judy returned to her nursing career working at Marshall Field's in the medical department at their iconic State Street store before transitioning to work as a disability specialist with UNUM, where she combined her compassion and professionalism to help others.
Judy had a love for life's simple pleasures: music, singing, gardening, and traveling. She took great pride in her impeccable sense of fashion, often expressing her style with striking clothing and shoes (of course shoes!). She loved the Opera and watching birds from her balcony. She was an excellent cook and baked fabulous pies!
Judy is survived by her husband, Charles Sharp; her daughter, Kate (John) Belle of Wheaton; and her cherished grandchildren, Jessica (James) and Jacob. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Marie, and her brothers, Tony, Gus and Franky.
Judy's legacy of kindness, resilience, and a life well-lived will forever be celebrated by those who knew and loved her.
A private celebration of her life will be held to honor her memory.
