Judith W. Sabol, age 80, a resident of Carol Stream, formerly of Itasca, died Monday, August 22, peacefully at home surrounded by her family. She was born December 9, 1930 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Henry and Hazel Wollum.
Judy grew up in Owen, Wisconsin and graduated from Owen High School. She moved to the Chicago area where she met John Sabol. They were married on June 21, 1952. They raised their family in Itasca where she worked for School District 10 as a teacher's aide and later at the Itasca Public Library as an administrative assistant to the director. In 2000 she retired and then moved to Carol Stream.
She loved reading, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her children, Kristine (John) Taylor of Winfield, John Sabol of Bloomingdale, and Julia (Dennis) Deeke of Wheaton, seven grandchildren, James, Robert (Sara), Katie, David, Alex, Adam, and Aaron, and two great-grandsons, Jeremy and Jaxson. She is also survived by her brother, Henry (Odile) Wollum.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Sabol, her parents, and one brother, William (Jean) Wollum.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 26, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton. A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at College Church Commons, Washington and Seminary St. in Wheaton. Interment will follow at Mt. Emblem Cemetery in Elmhurst, Illinois.
