Obituary

Judith L. Johnson, "Aunt Judy", age 69, a resident of Schiller Park, IL, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, June 20, 2025. She departed to her new life in eternity from JourneyCare Hospice in Barrington after a long but brave battle with cancer. She was born November 22, 1955 in Chicago, IL to Carl "Bert" and Marilyn Johnson.

Judy attended East Leyden High School and Triton College. She grew up at Midwest Bible Church where she served as an AWANA leader and Phantom Ranch Board Committee secretary for over (20?) years. She spent summers at Phantom Ranch Bible Camp, working in the kitchen alongside her mother, serving as a camp counselor and making many lifelong friends. She loved and doted on her nephews, taking them on trips, to Great America and to "help" her at work in downtown Chicago. Her Christmas gift philosophy was "quantity slightly over quality" as she literally filled her living room with piles of gifts which dwarfed her Christmas tree.

Judy was a devoted daughter, caring for her mother until her homegoing in 2017. She was energetic and loved visiting with family and friends, taking special trips with cousins or the "Wachovia Girls", shopping at Goodwill, cooking and enjoying special foods (she made a mean pork roast!), making Swedish potato sausage every year, preparing and hosting the family Christmas dinner, reading voraciously and keeping her brothers in line. Judy loved purses, jewelry, pretty bags and gnomes.

Judy worked in financial securities at various firms for over 40 years, making friends everywhere she went. But her most valued title (in her words, "The only title I wanted") was Auntie Judy. She became and delighted in being Auntie Judy to countless others.

Judy's heart's desire was for all of her friends and family to know and follow the Lord Jesus Christ. She was the embodiment of kindness, generosity and compassion, a loyal friend and trusted confidante. Her great sense of humor remained with her to the end. The birthday, holiday and thank you cards she sent to so many will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her brothers, Jim Johnson & Bill (Tammie) Johnson; her former sister-in-law, Holly Staudacher; her nephews: Peter (Tara), Will (Tabea), and Erik Johnson; her niece-in-law, Kristen Johnson; seven great-nieces & great-nephews: Carter, Madeline, Lincoln, Olivia, Ellie, Evelynn and Cate.

She was preceded in death by her nephew, Daniel Johnson and her parents.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Phantom Ranch Bible Camp, W309S10910 County Road I, Mukwonago, WI 53149, on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. If you plan to attend please click on the following link to RSVP: Click Here .
