Joyce C. Toerpe, age 81, a resident of Winfield, IL, since 1994, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois. She was born November 17, 1933 in Maywood, IL to Donald and Emily West.

Joyce was a graduate of Proviso East High School and Elmhurst College, where she was very involved with the theater program. In 1954, she met William Toerpe after he returned from Korea. They were married on April 1, 1955. They raised a family in Addison and Wheaton. She was a member of the Addison Women's Club, a Republican Committee Women, and a past president of Wheaton Women's Republican Club. In the 1970's she taught at Wagner School in Glen Ellyn. She was a retired employee of Du Page County Jury Commission.

She enjoyed cooking and entertaining. She was an avid reader and loved to travel. Her family was her greatest joy.

She is survived by her husband, William, three children, William III (Saundra) Toerpe of Cincinnati, OH, Tara (Brian) Shannon of Batavia and Tracy (Grant) Clark of Bristol, WI, seven grandchildren, William IV, Thomas (Kim), Marybeth, Carleigh, Callum, Madeline, and Morgan and one great-grandson, Davis Paul Toerpe. She is also survived by two siblings, Jill Gapp, of Barrington and John (Linda) West, of Whitewater, WI.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 21, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 22, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 155 N. Prince Crossing Rd, West Chicago, IL 60185.
