Joyce C. Coon, age 65, a resident of Warrenville, IL, died November 2, 2014, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL. She was born September 24, 1949 in Chicago, IL.

Joyce graduated from the West Suburban School of Nursing in 1971. She then entered the Navy and was commissioned as a Lieutenant JG in the Nurse Corps. Upon discharge she returned to Wheaton and entered into Geriatric Nursing for the balance of her career. She was a member of Immanuel Presbyterian Church in Warrenville, where she served in many capacities, including the choir, the food pantry and children's ministry. She loved to travel, including trips to the Holy Land, Italy, Ireland, England and Scotland. Made it to all but two of the states continental U.S., and all of the Canadian provinces except Nova Scotia and Quebec.

She is survived by her husband, Robert E. Coon; three grandchildren, Ezra, Avery and Iris Blue; her mother, Genevieve Swanson; two brothers, Jack (Shelly) Swanson of Wheaton, and James (Kim) Swanson of Wheaton; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Swanson.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 5, 2014 from 3-9 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Presbyterian Church , 29W260 Batavia Road, in Warrenville, IL. Interment will be private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
