Joy E.
Nelson
September 23, 1975 – May 29, 2021
Joy E. Nelson, age 45, a resident of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, passed away May 29, 2021. She was born September 23, 1975 in St. Charles, Illinois.
The youngest of five children, Joy grew up in Glen Ellyn, Il, surrounded by a family that loved having a baby join the junior high and high school aged siblings. Affectionately named "Joyous", her family adored her.
As a teen, Joy developed a heart for ministry, travelling across the world on a Mission trip to the Ukraine to share the gospel with other teens. Joy also served as a prison ministry volunteer at Valley View Youth Detention Center in St. Charles. She loved the Lord and she loved the people that came into her life.
When Joy's nieces and nephews were young, they often thought Aunt Joy looked like a Princess and they would gather around her for the best snuggles and arm tickles. They enjoyed bike rides down the Prairie Path, and special outings for bagels, ice cream and treats at the Popcorn Shop. She loved to spoil them.
Joy graduated from Glenbard West High School and received a scholarship to Lake Forest College. After college, she had a successful career as a financial coordinator in the orthodontics field.
Joy was blessed with many gifts and talents, a generous and giving heart, creative spirit and intuitiveness that enabled her to reach out and connect with everyone she would meet.
She loved to shop. She loved watching the cooking shows and trying new recipes. She loved giving the most thoughtful gifts. She loved doing charcoal drawings. She loved her dog Bentley more than anything. She loved to love.
To our Daughter, our Sister, our Aunt, our Friend…..We will always love you, Joyous, and we will miss your beautiful smile, your tender heart and your loving personality.
Joy is survived by her parents John and Jolene Nelson of Glen Ellyn; her sister, Christine Nelson of Glen Ellyn, her sister Julie (Jerry) Dean of Wheaton, her brother Tom (Maria) Nelson of Mapleton, Illinois, and her brother David (Mary) Nelson of Wheaton. Also survived by her nieces & nephews: Katelyn (Sam) Haist, Krista (Patrick) Hopkins & Jesse Dean; Danny (Brandi), Nathan, Seth & Faith Nelson; Lauren, Brittany, Luke & Abigail Nelson; and eight great-nieces & nephews.
Services will be held privately. A private burial will be held at Fountain Lutheran Church Cemetery in Juneau County, Wisconsin.
Memorial gifts may be directed to the family of Joy Nelson c/o Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, Illinois 60187.
