Joseph A. Weber, Jr., a resident of Wheaton for 40 years, died Thursday, February 26, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. He was born October 8, 1927 in Chicago, IL.
Mr. Weber served in the US Navy prior to attending and graduating from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana, IL in 1952. He then worked for Illinois Bell and AT&T for 32 years. During that time he was in commercial management in Champaign and Springfield, IL, and then moved to Yellow Page publishing in the Chicago area. He was an avid sports fan and especially loved watching the Illini compete. He was also the Santa in Wheaton's Christmas parade for three years during the 1990's. His interests included bowling, fishing, golfing, model trains and rug hooking. He was also a Drum Corps International fan and enthusiast since the late 1960's.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elaine; two children, Linda (David) Johnson, and Russ (Cheryl) Weber, both of Wheaton, IL; and three grandchildren, Derek and Dana Weber, and Russ Johnson.
A memorial visitation will be held on Sunday, March 8, from 12:00 P.M. until the time of a memorial service at 1:30 P.M. to be held in the Anderson Auditorium of the Wyndemere Retirement Center, 200 Wyndemere Circle, in Wheaton, IL. Interment is private.
