Jose A. Flores, age 64, a resident of Sleepy Hollow, IL, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 15, 2022, at Elmhurst Hospital in Elmhurst, Illinois. He was born March 6, 1957 in Usulutan, El Salvador.

While in El Salvador, Jose graduated with a bachelor's degree from the Instituto Tecnológico de Comercio with a degree in Accounting. He moved to the United States in 1984. He settled in the Chicago area and was immersed in the Christian community and accepted the Lord. He was baptized in 1985 at Mannheim Baptist Church, where he met his sweetheart, Clara. On December 6, 1986, he married Clara. They were happily married for 35 years. Jose was blessed with a large and loving family.

Jose was a movie buff, and loved to cook his favorite adopted culture of Colombian food. He shared his love of food with his grandchildren such as pandebono, arepas, and empanadas. He was compassionate and loved hosting people in his home. He was also a problem-solver who often took on difficult and unwanted projects at work and around the house. He was joyful and loved to have a good time. At family gatherings he would be the first one and last one on the dance floor.

He is survived by his wife, Clara Ines Flores, his children, Elizabeth (Manuel) Del Toro, Venesa (Airto) Ocasio, Edwin (Nicole) Portillo, Maria (Daniel) Harte, and Andrew Flores, his grandchildren, Stephanie Del Toro, Jasmine (Joe) Vietinghoff, Jonathan Arias, Manuel Del Toro, Sophia Ocasio, Lucas Ocasio, Alicia Ocasio, Sophia Portillo, two sisters, Elizabeth Orellana and Rina Portillo, He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor Manuel Flores and Anna Ysabel Portillo, his brother, Jose Manuel Flores, and sister, Patricia Portillo.

A visitation will be held on Friday, February 18, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Wheaton Bible Church.
