John E. White, age 65, a longtime resident of Warrenville, IL, died Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois, after suffering a stroke. He was born March 22, 1947 in Decatur to Jim and Vie White.

He grew up in Decatur and attended Illinois State University and graduated from McKendree College. John worked for many years for Lucent Technologies and retired in 2001. In retirement he enjoyed helping others in the community by fixing things or helping with their computers. He enjoyed traveling to see and photograph covered bridges. He loved to help immigrants learn English. He was a lifelong follower of Decatur Park Singers.

He is survived by three children, Jeffrey (Shellie) White of DeKalb, Jennifer (Joe) Cruz of Libertyville, and Julie (Jason) Elsts of Savoy, IL, nine grandchildren, Tobias, Isaiah, Boaz, Ellen, Micaiah, Jaylee, James, Xavier and Jed, one brother, James (Darlene) White of Oreana, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 20, at 10:00 a.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton, IL. A visitation will follow the service and family will continue to receive guests until 1:00 p.m.
