John J. "Jack" Wallace, age 84, a resident of Park Place in Elmhurst, IL, passed away on Thurday, September 8, 2016, at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital. He was born June 5, 1932 in Oak Park, Illinois.
Jack grew up in Douglas Park neighborhood of Chicago and graduated from Farragut High School. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps and rose to the rank of Master Sergeant in the Excavation Corps. He earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois. He worked for many years in the home building industry in the Chicagoland area and retired from Lakewood Homes as vice-president of land development. He was a longtime resident of the Hinsdale/Clarendon Hills communities and moved to Elmhurst in 2007. He enjoyed golf, travel and music. He enjoyed the theater and spending time with family and friends.
He is survived by his children, John Wallace of Champaign, Margaret Kandziora of Bolingbrook, and Barbara (Thomas) Hickey of North Aurora, seven grandchildren, Wade (Julia) Eckert, Maxx Eckert, Erik (Elise) Kandziora, Kate Steinhoff, James Steinhoff, Ryan (Deanna) Hickey, and Michael Hickey, eight great-grandchildren, and one brother, Jerome (Saul Lule) Grazinskas. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Eckert, his parents, John and Marie Grazinskas, sister, Jean McMullen, and brother, Donald Grazinskas.
A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, October 8, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m.
