John Robert Street, 82, of Boulder, Colorado, died on June 12, 2017, at Boulder
Community Health Hospital following a long illness.
Robert Street was born to Reverend Harold B. Street and Mabel Ellis Street in Soddu, Wolamo, Ethiopia, on June 21, 1934, the youngest of four children. His parents were missionaries with the Sudan Interior Mission and fled the invasion of Ethiopia returning to the United States in 1937. His family lived in Waterloo, Iowa, and then moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where he graduated from Minnehaha Academy in 1952. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1954 to 1956.
In June of 1960 he was married to Janice Evelyn Smucker in Pierce Memorial Chapel on the campus of Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois. He attended Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, Illinois, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1965.
He was employed by Patten Industries, Elmhurst, Illinois, a dealership for Caterpillar Inc,
in the Marketing Department as an inside sales representative retiring in 1999.
Living in Wheaton most of his adult life, he was a long time member of the Wheaton
Bible Church. He was active in various activities of the church serving as a leader of the college youth group and as an adult leader in the Boys Brigade program. He served as the Head Usher in charge of the ushers and greeters for all the Sunday services.
In addition he was a Telephone Ministry Communicator at the Billy Graham Center on the campus of Wheaton College for the phone ministry of many Billy Graham Crusades.
He is survived by his wife and two children, Stephen Street of Boulder, Colorado, and Heather (Philip) Kocisko of Plainfield, Illinois, and a grandson, Charles John Kocisko, his namesake, and two brothers, Harold Street of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, and Paul Street of Naperville, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Miriam Street Holsteen.
A visitation will be at Hultgren Funeral Home in Wheaton, Illinois, Saturday, June 17, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. until the start of a  Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m.
