John P. O'Neill

John P. “Jack” O'Neill, age 85, a resident of Winfield, IL, passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2026. He was born August 17, 1940 in Chicago, IL to Donald & Mary O’Neill.

Jack graduated from St. Ignatius High School in Chicago in 1958 before attending the Illinois Institute of Technology, where he earned a degree in philosophy in 1962. Shortly thereafter, he honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1963 to 1965 being stationed in Korea. Following his military service, Jack began a long & successful career as an insurance agent, specializing in commercial insurance. Outside of his professional life, Jack had a passion for reading and a keen interest in history. Jack’s genuine love for people (and the reciprocal love he received from others) was an important part of his character.

He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Judy; his beloved step-children Clayton (Lisa) Hoag, Patrick (Lindsey) Johnston & Karrie (Kenn) Gesiakowski; his grandchildren Alec Gesiakowski, Zachary Johnston & Matthew Johnston.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187. A funeral service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, 410 N. Cross St., Wheaton, IL 60187, on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery.
