John H. Marti, 65, a long time resident of Winfield, was called home to the Lord on May 28, after battling lung cancer. He was born in Kankakee, IL January 30, 1941.
John grew up, on Danada Farms, his father being the farm manager for Dan and Ada Rice. He was a past president of the DuPage County Fair Association. He was employed for 40 years as a dedicated salesman for Will-Dupage Service Company. He served the Lord in many ways as a member of St. John Lutheran Church. Not only was he an elder, but he was also active as an usher, member of the Joy group and dartball team. For all that knew him his greatest love was for his Lord and his family.
He is survived by his wife of over 41 years, Jeanette; his children, Gwen (John) Veldhuis-Kroeze, Jeff (Kelli) Marti, Gretchen (Tom) Lupfer; his grandchildren, Kale, Celia, Luke Veldhuis-Kroeze, Taylor, Ryan, Adam Marti; and his brother, Bill (Elizabeth) Marti.
Preceded in death by his parents, LaVerne an Mildred Marti.
Visitation will be held 4:00-8:00 PM, Wed., May 31, at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. Funeral services will be Thurs., June 1, at St. John Lutheran Church, 125 E. Seminary, in Wheaton, at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Scott Bruzek officating. Visitation time at 10-11:00 AM is scheduled before the service. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oakbrook Terrace.
