John Herbert "Jack" Warner, age 85, a resident of Windsor Park Manor in Carol Stream, died Thursday, April 6, at Windsor's Johnson Healthcare Center. He was born August 1, 1920 in Racine, WI.
Jack was a retired Lt. Col. in the U.S. Army. He served for 27 years during World War II and the Korean War. Following his retirement from the Army, he worked for Smith Barney in Evanston, IL for 20 years as an investment broker. He was a member of the Military Officer's Association, and St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Wheaton, IL. He also prepared income taxes for AARP.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Alice; his three children, Gene Warner of Phoenix, AZ, Patricia (Bob) Hendren of Pecatonica, IL, and Pamela (Stephen) Schindel of Aurora, IL; five grandchildren, Karl (Amy) Schindel, Kathleen (Steven) Szczap, Karin Schindel, Heather Hendren, and Jeff Hendren; three great-grandchildren, Courtney and Allison Szczap, and Drew Schindel; and two brothers, Richard (Joan) Warner, and James (Alice) Warner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Aurelia Warner; and two brothers, Edward and William Warner.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 9, from 3-7 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, where a funeral service will be held on Monday, at 9:30 A.M. Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
