John Earl Hilbert, age 74, a resident of Glen Ellyn, IL, died June 20, 2019. He was born June 4, 1945 in Stockton, California and lived most of his life in the Chicago area.

John served proudly in the United States Army attaining the rank of captain. He graduated from Elmhurst College with a degree in history. He worked as a department head in training for the Treasury Department in Chicago. He married his college sweet heart Joan and had three lovely children, Susan, Robert, and Amanda. He adored his grandchildren Brady, Conner, and Vivienne Pliska and Carsten, Annabelle, and Josephine Hilbert.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Hilbert of Glen Ellyn, three children, and six grandchildren.

Services and interment will be private. Interment will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.
