Obituary

John T. Gay; husband, brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and Packer fan; a resident of Arlington Heights, Il, formerly of Elk Grove Village, Il, died in his home on Friday, November 07, 2014 at the age of 81.

He was born on May 15, 1933 in Ashland, WI to Marie (Farley) and James Gay. He grew up in Highbridge and Ashland, graduating from Ashland High School in 1951. He worked on the Great Lakes before entering the Air Force in 1954. He married Janet (Bloomquist) on September 11, 1954. After leaving the Air Force in 1964, he had a long career as a construction manager with both Sears and Dominicks. He was retired at the time of his death.

He helped start, and was the first Commander (1999-2001) of the American Legion post in Elk Grove Village. He was currently active with Elk Grove Baptist Church .

He is survived by his wife Janet, his 3 sons Brian of Grand Island, NE, Michael of Arlington Heights, IL and Douglas of Rochelle, IL, his sister MaryAnn Prettyman of Duluth, MN, 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his infant brother William, and his infant son Patrick.

His remains have been donated to the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois , in the hope of helping new doctors and researchers to assist future generations.

Services and interment are private.

Memorials can be directed to the Elk Grove Baptist Church Library fund in John's name, where he spent much time making a place for people to enjoy.
