John A. Gallo, age 75, a resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away on Friday, August 16, 2024.  He was born February 24, 1949 in Chicago, IL to Pellegrino Gallo & Helen Valiga Gallo.

John lost his yearlong battle with glioblastoma and lymphoma on Friday surrounded by his family. Although born in Chicago, he later moved to Downers Grove.  He attended Northern Illinois University, where he met his wife Rosemary in 1969.  After graduating, John worked as a salesman in the automotive industry until retiring in 2015. Having a passion for cooking, he was always able to turn whatever he had available into a delicious meal. His homemade meatballs, lasagna, and soups were loved by all. John also enjoyed staying fit, making sure he walked his 5 miles a day, rain or shine, and watching his diet carefully. He was an inspiration to those around him. After retirement, John enjoyed spending his time sailing his sailboat and cruising with his wife. His greatest joys in life, though, were his children and grandchildren. He was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, and friend and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Rosemary; his daughters Jean (Justin) Wine & Ann (Dan) Corbett; his grandchildren James, Elle, Elizabeth & Maddie; his brother Joe (Janette) Gallo; his sisters-in-law Connie (John) Lindner & Judy (Craig) Wunderlich; and several nieces & nephews.

He is preceded in death by his sister Barbara Figler and his parents.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 24, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 Noon at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, IL 60187. Inurnment will follow at Assumption Cemetery in Wheaton, IL.
