John Everett Fellowes, age 91, a resident of Wheaton for 54 years, died Thursday, June 28, 2007. He was born on February 25, 1916 in Chicago to Harry Lamar and Gladys Folger Fellowes.
He was a graduate of Morgan Park Military Academy, Knox College and attended Northwestern Graduate School of Management. During W.W.II he served as a Major in the US Army Ordinance Department in Chicago and Washington D.C. He was Chief Executive Officer of Fellowes Inc. and served the family business for a total of 69 years.
Mr. Fellowes served as an officer of several office products trade associations and was honored in 1987 with the Spirit of Life Award from the City of Hope in California. He served as a Trustee of Knox College, was a past president of Presbyterian Home in Evanston, and a director of the Chicago Opera Theater. He was a member of Chicago Golf Club, where he also served as president. Among his many involvement's with the community, he was especially interested in working with young people in schools and church.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Elaine, two sons, Peter (Jeanne) Fellowes of Paris, France and James (Deby) Fellowes of Wheaton, and one daughter, Mary (Stefan Sieveking) Fellowes of Munich, Germany, ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harry Folger (Virginia) Fellowes.
A visitation will be held on Sunday, July 1 from 3 until 7 p.m. at the Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton. A memorial service will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church of Wheaton, 715 N. Carlton Avenue, Wheaton, Illinois.
