John "Jack" F. Laschinski, age 84, a resident of Carol Stream since 1966, died on Thursday, August 23, 2012, surrounded by his loving family at Claremont Rehabilitation in Hanover Park, Illinois. He was born December 12, 1927 in Evanston to Albert and Clara Laschinski.
Jack joined the U.S. Army when he was 18. He then attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette, where he met Marolyn Nefzger. They were married on March 11, 1950. He worked as a traffic manager for the Chicago Great Western Railroad, Container Corporation and other firms.
He was a sports enthusiast who played sports in school and the army and was a lifelong Cubs and Bears fan. He also coached Carol Stream Little League Baseball and youth football for many years.
He is survived by his wife, Marolyn Laschinski, four children, Kathryn (Bill) Wooten of Hanover Park, John (Mariluz) Laschinski of Dixon, Rob (Anna) Laschinski of Hanover Park, and Jeff (Kelly) Laschinski of Carol Stream, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchilden, one brother, Ron (Ruth) Laschinski of Grays Lake and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Marcella and Nancy, a brother, Albert, and a grandson Robert James Laschinski.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 29, from 3 to 9 at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton where a funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 30, at 10:30 A.M. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Wheaton, Illinois.
