IN LOVING MEMORY OF
John Lloyd
Ball
August 18, 1942 – January 5, 2025
John Lloyd Ball, age 82, of Island Lake, Illinois, peacefully entered the presence of the Lord on Sunday, January 5, 2025. Born on August 18, 1942, in Geneva, Illinois, to Lloyd John and Svea Ingeborg Ball, John lived a life marked by faith, dedication, and love for his family.
John devoted 30 years to teaching U.S. History at Maine East High School in Park Ridge, where he inspired countless students with his passion for history and learning. A man of steadfast faith, John was an active member of both Des Plaines Bible Church and Delavan Christian Reformed Church, where he enjoyed sharing his love of Scripture through teaching and singing hymns.
An avid woodworker and carver, John found joy in crafting beautiful pieces, often accompanied by the gentle rhythm of his wife Faith's voice reading aloud. He cherished quiet moments, a good book, and the company of his family, whose lives were deeply enriched by his wisdom and unwavering love.
John's Christian faith was the cornerstone of his life, shaping his values and the way he connected with others. He leaves behind a legacy of faithfulness, kindness, and love that will be treasured for generations.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Faith L. Ball; his children, Jon E. (Vilija) Ball, Lynn C. (Jonathan) Genn, and Jill H. (Rogelio) Miranda; and his grandchildren, Sarah (Nicholas) Weglarek, Samuel (Corrin) Miranda, Joshua (Casey) Miranda, Luke (Bailey) Genn, and Mackenzie Genn. He also leaves seven great-grandchildren who brought him immense joy: Whittaker Miranda, Kaelyn Miranda, Eisla Miranda, Madeline Weglarek, Athan Weglarek, Murphy Miranda, and Sarah Genn.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Sandra Von Busch and Carna Schroder.
