Joanne Mary Warren, 72, of Wheaton died on January 31, 2017 after a brief battle with cancer. She was born on June 19, 1944, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the only child of John and Lorraine (Dettmann) Warren. Her early years were spent in the Wautoma, Wisconsin, area living with her grandfather after the deaths of her parents.
She graduated from Wautoma High School in 1963 and from Fox Valley Tech, Appleton, Wisconsin, in 1971 and worked in several office positions.
In 1980 she moved to Wheaton to help with childcare for a cousin undergoing cancer treatments. She later held several office positions and also continued her education, earning certificates in Office Technology and Ornamental Horticulture at College of DuPage. Enriching her Christian spiritual life was always a primary focus of hers and she was an active member of Compass Church in Wheaton.
Joanne loved her pets over the years – especially parakeets. She also had a creative side enjoying hobbies including writing, sewing, drawing and painting as well as various craft projects. She regularly displayed many of these items at the DuPage County Fair.
A memorial service is planned for Joanne at Wheaton Compass Church on Friday February 10 at 4 PM. Memorial gifts may be made to the church.
