Joanne S. Roberts, nee Griffith, age 85, a longtime resident of Wheaton, IL, died June 15, 2020.  She was born October 28, 1934 in upstate New York, but grew up in Sayre, Pennsylvania.

After high school Jo made her way to Wheaton College, where she graduated in 1956.  At Wheaton, she met lifelong Wheaton resident Leland Roberts and they married on October 26, 1957.   Lee and Jo made their home in Wheaton, where they raised their four children.

Joanne loved staying at home and raising her kids.  She enjoyed being outside in her garden; the pink rose hedge she planted around their North Main Street home was a jewel of the neighborhood.  Providing love and hospitality to family and friends were important to Joanne.   The family home of four generations, a farmhouse built in 1870, was always festively decorated, reflecting her caring and welcoming spirit.  In her later years her passion was to play an integral role in her grandchildren's lives; traveling around the country to spend time with their grandkids was a great joy for Jo and Lee.  Their beach house in South Carolina was a special place for them to share with family and friends, creating treasured memories for all who visited.

Joanne is survived by her children Meg (Kurt) Tillman, Jim (Wanda) Roberts, Mark (Rebecca) Roberts and Laura (Mark) Branine, grandchildren Andrew (Bridgette), Jacob and Rachel Roberts; Stephen, Christa and David Tillman; Joanne, Meg and Aimee Branine, and great-granddaughter Wandajune.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leland, who died in June 2019 and her brother David (Linda) Griffith.
