Joanne Carol Neumann's Obituary
Joanne Carol Neumann is in the presence of her God and Savior, Jesus Christ, as of Thursday, March 3, 2016, after a brief illness, at the age of 74. Born on January 1, 1942, she was adopted into her loving family at the age of 6 months. From that time until shortly before her death, she lived in the same house at 595 Maiden Lane her entire life.
A third generation Glen Ellynite, her grandparents owned the Busch farm at Five Corners. Her neighbors were precious friends and through the years, she served as a surrogate aunt to many a child on her street. She was everybody's friend, and knew hundreds of Glen Ellynites through her 36 years of working from teller to Assistant Vice-President at the downtown DuPage Bank and Trust, a position she obtained shortly after graduating from Glenbard West High School in 1960.
For decades, she and her mother, Lillian, raised pedigreed blue Persian cats. She served in several volunteer capacities in the community and at her church, Wheaton Bible, as pre-school Sunday School teacher and on the Visitation Team as well as at the Glen Ellyn Food Pantry. Her infectious smile and laugh will be missed by all those who loved her.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, William E and Lillian Busch Neumann; her brother and his wife, William John and Carol Johnson Neumann.
She is survived by family members, niece Paula (Steven) Peckham of Clemson, SC; nephew Stephen (Jill) W Neumann of Dallas, TX; great nieces Rachel and Elizabeth Peckham of Clemson, SC; great nephews Scott Neumann of Dallas, TX, Jordan Neumann also of Dallas, TX, and Michael (Jessica) Peckham of Black Mountain, NC; and many cousins and wonderful friends.
Visitation will be at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL, on Sunday, March 6, from 3-7 PM. A funeral service will be held at Wheaton Bible Church, 27W500 North Avenue, in West Chicago, IL 60185 on Monday, March 7, at 10:30 AM with Interment to follow at Chapel Hill Gardens West in Oakbrook Terrace.
