Joanne R. Hackett, age 81, a resident of Wheaton, IL, died on Friday, September 16, 2016, at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, IL. She was born April 11, 1935 in Dekalb, IL.
Joanne graduated from Northern Illinois University and then taught in Elgin and in Carpentersville, IL. She was a guide and instructor at the Morton Arboretum for 15 years. She was a member of Gary Church in Wheaton, IL where she served with the Mary Martha Circle. She was a member of the Coffee Break Bible Study, the Former Arboretum Naturalist Guide Society (FANGS), and the Wheaton Women's Club.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, William F. Hackett; her daughter, Carol (Darin) Henneike of Bourbonnais, IL; three grandsons, Justin, Jared and Joshua; her brother, James M. (Susan) Raddatz of Plymouth, MN; and her special cousin, Geraldine Foster.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 from 4-8 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at
Gary Church
, 224 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. Interment will be private at Lawnridge Cemetery in Rochelle, IL.
