Joan D.
Spedale
October 4, 1931 – March 3, 2019
Joan D. Spedale, age 87, a resident of Wheaton, IL, died March 3, 2019, at Honor Health Scottsdale Osborn Medical Center in Scottsdale, AZ. She was born October 4, 1931 in Chicago, IL.
Joan was born to parents Bernard and Lenore Deeny on the northside of Chicago. She was an outstanding student attending Catholic grade and high schools and a graduate of Mundelein College. She met the love of her life, Vince, while walking her dog on the same route every day to get "noticed" by a guy who loved to work on cars. They were soon married and Joan was instrumental in supporting Vince's successful engineering career in senior leadership positions with Chrysler Corp and International Harvester while at the same time raising six children. Vince's career took Joan and family to homes in Michigan, Argentina, Mexico, and San Diego before finally returning to their true home in Wheaton on Shady Lane. Joan loved traveling and playing cards but her family was by far her greatest joy followed closely by her love for the Chicago Cubs. She enjoyed attending games at Wrigley Field as well as traveling to see her Cubs at spring training and regular season road games.
She is survived by her six children, Kathy (Dan) Kahn of Phoenix, AZ, Joe (Sue) of Woodland, CA, Barb (Bob) Hungerford of Battle Creek, MI, Jude (Larry) Mandel of Wheaton, Bob (Deb) of Lockport, and Tony of Winfield; 14 grandchildren, Alyssa (Zach), Jessica (Joe), Jenny (Gerald), Michelle (Drew), Adam (Danyle), Sam, Eric, Steven, Mac (Nicole), Heather (Tec), Kellie, Alex, Brittany, and Sara; 13 great-grandchildren, Quinn, Michael, Kayli, Laela, Cason, Cannon, Tessa, Ariana, Aiden, Emmitt, Claire, Mela, and Luke; and one great-great-grandson, Adrian.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vincent.
