Joan Carroll Raber's Obituary
Joan Carroll Raber, age 77, died on Thursday, October 9, 2014, at Alexian Brothers Hospice in Elk Grove Village, IL. She was born 29 July, 1937, to the late George and Elizabeth O'Connor Raber.
She grew up in Chicago but spent her adult life in Maywood, Glen Ellyn, and finally Winfield. Her working years were spent managing the payroll and accounts for Congdon Sewer in Addison. She died after a brief illness.
Joan was the beloved companion for many years of Gloria Brennan Larsen, who died in 1994. She is survived by Gloria's daughter Michele Barale and her spouse Sally Sutherland of Amherst, Massachusetts. She is survived also by her dear cousin Judy Raber and her son, Clinton, and predeceased by her cousin, Jack Raber.
In her final illness, Joan was cared for by her loyal friends Kathy Ward and Paul Hoffman and by the wonderful staff of Alexian Brothers Hospice.
A memorial Mass is being held at St. Petronille Catholic Church, 425 Prospect, Glen Ellyn, IL 60137 at 10:00 A.M. on Friday November 14th, 2014. Interment was held at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside, IL.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital , 501 St Jude's Place, Memphis,TN 38105, or Alexian Brothers Hospice , 901 Martha St., Elk Grove Village, IL 60007.
