Obituary
Joan E. Murphy, age 87, a resident of Willowbrook, IL, and formerly of La Grange Park, IL, died Tuesday, May 8, at Arden Courts in Glen Ellyn, IL. She was born May 25, 1919 in Decatur, IL.
In her youth Joan performed in a travelling Dance Troupe called the Bytonettes. Her love of dance and theater continued throughout her life. She married Harold Murphy in 1940 and was married 27 years. She was a Secretary for the Manager of the Village of La Grange Park for 17 years.
She is survived by her four children, Carole Wicklander of Wheaton, Kathleen (Steve) Vilicich of Evanston, Thomas (Nancy) Murphy of Alpharetta, GA, and Nancy Murphy of Countryside; five grandchildren, Michelle, Meghan, and Tommy Murphy, and Rob and Colleen Wicklander; and her brother, Robert (Frances) Thompson of Eldon, MO.
She was preceded in death by her husband Harold in 1968.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 9, from 4-8 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 10, at 9:00 A.M. at St. James the Apostle Catholic Church, 480 S. Park Blvd., in Glen Ellyn. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Decatur, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to the Rush Alzheimer's Disease Center/Research, 1700 W. Van Buren, Ste. 250, Chicago, IL 60612.
