Obituary
Joan Helgen, age 92, a resident of Wheaton, died Monday, September 6, at Wynscape Nursing Center. She was born May 14, 1912 in Guin, Alabama.
Joan was a registered nurse for over 35 years, retiring in 1973 from the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN. She loved to paint watercolors and was a member of the DAR. Most recently she was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Winfield.
She is survived by her three children, James Helgen of St. Louis, MO, Margaret (Ron) Ruben of North Aurora, and Carolyn (Judd) Thompson of Arlington Heights; eight grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Harold Merwin Helgen in 1982; her parents; and seven brothers and sisters.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, September 8, from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service at 10:00 A.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton. Interment will follow at 3:00 P.M. at Buckeye Cemetery in Morton, IL.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Medical Missions Fund at Faith Baptist Church, 27w010 Old Parkway Dr., Winfield, IL 60190.
