Joan Rita Farrow, age 88, a former resident of Itasca, died Sunday, July 19 at the Wynscape Nursing Center. She was born on May 18, 1921 in Mill Creek, Illinois to Frank and Juanita Helton.
She grew up in Mill Creek, IL and moved to East St. Louis where she married Robert A. Farrow on December 20, 1941. She was a devoted mother and loved gardening and bird watching.
She is survived by seven children, Roberta (Albin) Voegele of St. Albans, VT, Elaine (Joseph) Nelson of Overland Park, KS, Catherine Winters of Overland Park, KS, Geoffrey (Mary) Farrow of Glen Gardner, NJ, Mary (Priest Walker) Farrow of Wheaton, IL, Anita (Kevin) Fahey of North Barrington, IL and Mark (Julie) Farrow of Naperville, IL, 14 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and one sister, Margaret.
A committal service will be held on Wednesday, July 22, 2009 at at 2:00 p.m. at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Belleville, Illinois.
