IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jin-Yan
Lin
April 6, 1950 – January 17, 2024
Dr. Jin-Yan Lin, age 73, a resident of Wheaton, IL, passed away peacefully at home on January 17, 2024, surrounded by family. Jin was born on April 6, 1950 in Taipei, Taiwan where he grew up alongside 6 siblings. He is survived by his wife Judy, his children Emily (Nick), Olivia (Dan), and Jonathan (Katie), and grandchildren Sophie, Lucy, Abby, Milo, Liam, Malcolm, and Hailey.
Jin graduated from National Taiwan University with a degree in Chemical Engineering, and afterward earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Pennsylvania State University. Jin and his family have been residing in Wheaton since 1985, where he owned and managed two businesses: Windy City Press and Sunburst Sportswear. He sold the businesses and retired in January 2019.
Jin was known for his love of travel, and alongside his wife, Judy, explored nearly 40 different countries. In every corner of the world, Jin enjoyed singing and dancing, and always wore a smile on his face, especially in the company of his seven grandchildren. He also nurtured a special fondness for observing ocean life and, when at home, lovingly maintained a saltwater tank that housed unique fish - a cherished endeavor that spanned many years. Later in life, he found great joy in visits to the Naperville Senior Center where, fittingly, he earned the title "Best Smile." All those who knew Jin were indelibly impacted by his joyful spirit and he will be lovingly remembered for that infectious joy, as well as his warmth, resilience and unwavering care for his family.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at The Morton Arboretum, one of Jin's favorite areas to visit with his family. We hope that family and friends will be able to join us for lunch and a time of honoring Jin's life at the Arbor Room in The Morton Arboretum. Upon arrival at the gatehouse, guests can indicate that they are arriving for the Lin service and will be directed to the appropriate parking lot (P21). Please RSVP by March 16 to Judy at sunbcta@aol.com or 630-747-6510.
In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial gifts may be made to support the Naperville Senior Center in Jin's name.
