Gerald P. "Jerry" Baum, age 72, a lifelong resident of Wheaton and Winfield, died Monday, December 3 at the Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born in Winfield on August 25, 1935 to Peter and Esther Baum.
He graduated from West Chicago Community High School in 1953. He worked at Control'd Engineering in Glen Ellyn for 38 years until retirement in 1993. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling with family and friends. He also enjoyed an annual fishing trip with family members. In 1958 he married Carolyn Richardt, who passed away in 2004. He recently married Marcia Barth on September 8th.
Jerry is survived by his wife Marcia, one son Jeff (Nancy)Baum of Hampshire, one grandson Brett, one brother, Donald (Lois) Baum of West Chicago, two step-children, Dawn Barth and Andy Barth of Bloomington, IL. He is also survived by Carolyn's siblings, Connie Gallimore, Joyce (Alan) Stuart, Audrey Redgate, and Diane (Glenn) Hencyk, Gordon Richardt, David Richardt and Donald Richardt and many nieces and nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn and his parents.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 5, from 3 until 9 p.m. at the Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton. A mass will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church in Winfield. Prayers will begin at 10:15 at the funeral home.
Interment will take place at Assumption Cemetery in Winfield.
