It is with great sadness that we share the news of Jerome "Jerry" Edward O'Mara's passing on Friday, August 8, 2025.

Born in Chicago on August 6, 1963, Jerry was the cornerstone of the O'Mara family, inspired by his parents, Gerald J. O'Mara and Laura L. Lokcik O'Mara.

Jerry was a proud and competitive swimmer in his youth. The son of a Marine, he was deeply patriotic and loved his country. He attended Kelvyn Park and Hoffman Estates High School, graduating in 1981.

Whether working as a practicing denturist or a custodian, Jerry approached every task with passion and a smile. He had his ups and downs, yet he always picked himself up, dusted himself off, and moved forward.

Jerry never had a problem in his life; His life was living solutions. When a medical condition rendered him unable to work, he reinvented himself and carried on with resilience.

Jerry didn't just have a father, he had a best friend. When your dad sets the bar so high, you inherit a God-given strength. They are now reunited.

Jerry leaves behind his loving siblings; Lorrie Starosta, Michael (Tina) O'Mara, Sean (Linda) O'Mara; His adored nieces and nephews; Robert Starosta, Eric Starosta, Matthew O'Mara, Dino O'Mara, Lauren O'Mara, Melissa O'Mara, and Frankie O'Mara. Great Uncle to Emilia O'Mara, Godfather to Eric Starosta and Dino O'Mara.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald J. O'Mara and Laura L. Lokcik O'Mara, and his brother-in-law, Leonard R. Starosta.

In lieu of flowers or donations, in Jerry's memory, please pay it forward. Perform a good deed for a friend or stranger, spreading kindness and generosity by passing on the positive impact of a good deed to a new person or situation. Always make a positive contribution to society.

The Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, at 3:00 PM with a Memorial Visitation from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Hultgren Funeral Home, 565 Randy Rd, Carol Stream, IL 60188.
