Jeannette L. Tuggy, age 86, a resident of Naperville, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 15, 2018.  She was born on November 21, 1931 in Los Angeles, CA to William and Lenora Stokes.

Jeannette grew up in Los Angeles and graduated from University High School.  She went on to graduate from Biola College in 1956.  She met Leonard Tuggy, a student at UCLA, at the First Baptist Church of West Los Angeles and they were married on January 24, 1953.  Together they served as missionaries in the Philippines with Conservative Baptist Foreign Mission Society (World Venture). From 1956 until 1973 they served in the Philippines where she was instrumental in starting three churches by leading Women's ministries, Children's ministries and playing the pump organ for services.

In 1974, they moved to Wheaton, IL where she was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Wheaton. She was one of the founding teachers at Toddlers Campus, teaching 3 and 4 year old children for many years.  After she retired, she traveled with her husband, together encouraging missionaries.

Her Christian faith was central to her life and she was passionate about spreading the gospel.  She was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bulls.  Most of all she loved her kids and grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband A. Leonard Tuggy, three children, Stephen (Susan) Tuggy of Los Angeles, CA, Michael (Kathy) Tuggy of Winthrop, WA, and Lynette (David) Zelis of Wheaton, six grandchildren, Sarah Robertson, Jeremy Tuggy, Daniel Sarjeant, Kristin Sarjeant, Andrew Zelis and Laura Zelis, and one great-grandchild, Jordan Sarjeant.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Wheaton , 1310 N Main St, Wheaton, IL 60187, where friends may visit with the family prior to the service from 10 until 11:00 a.m.
