Jean M. Sekulski, age 83, a resident of Wheaton, IL, died Thursday, May 4, 2017, at home. She was born October 8, 1933 in Toledo, OH.
Jean was born in Toledo, OH in 1933 and graduated from DeVilbiss High School. Then she met the love of her life, David, who was a friend of her sister, Beverly. They married in August of 1955 and have been in wedded bliss for over 61 years. She and her husband owned a company together and lived in Indianapolis, Seattle, and finally settled down in Wheaton where they have resided for the past 52 years and raised their two beautiful daughters. They frequently enjoyed visiting their lake home in Wisconsin for the fresh woodland air, nature, and relaxation. Jean enjoyed spending time with her five grandsons and she had many close friends that she considered family. She was devout in her Catholic faith. Jean faced both breast cancer and pancreatic cancer with grace and a valiant fight. She passed peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her loving family.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, David; her daughters, Sherry (Nick) Poulos of Aurora, IL and Jennifer (Scott) Williams of Aurora, IL; five grandsons, Stephen (Maggie) Poulos and Eric Poulos, and Brady, Jackson and Everett Williams; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Frederick and Mildred Ruhl; her brothers, Paul, David and Frederick Ruhl; and her sister, Beverly Schrecongost.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., in Wheaton, IL. Prayers will be said before the Mass on Thursday, May 11, at 8:45 a.m. at the funeral home. A funeral Mass will follow at 9:30 a.m. at
St. John the Baptist Catholic Church
