Jean K. Reichert, age 84, a longtime resident of Wheaton, died Wednesday, November 1 at the Tabor Hills Healthcare Center in Naperville. She was born on June 9, 1922 in New Jersey.
Jean graduated from Union City College in New Jersey. She worked for General Motors as an accountant. In 1966 they moved to Wheaton, where she was a member of the Wheaton Women's Department Club, served in the PTA, volunteered at Sandburg School Library as well as Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts. She was a longtime member of Gary Memorial United Methodist Church in Wheaton, where she was active in the church choir for 35 years, served as financial secretary for 15 years and was a member of Dorcas Circle.
She is survived by three children, John William Reichert of Winfield, Ruthanne (William) Taylor of Jackson, Wyoming, and Katherine (Tim) Kearney of Homewood; and two grandchildren, Caitlin and Billy. She is also survived by a brother, John (Alice) Kopf of New Jersey and a sister, Helen (Eric) Bruce of Massachusetts. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Bill and her sister, Grace Anderson.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 7, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 Am. at Gary Memorial United Methodist Church, Main and Seminary St. in Wheaton. Interment will follow at Wheaton Cemetery.
