Jean H. Condon, age 90, a resident of Windsor Park in Carol Stream, died Monday, October 4 at the Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. She was born on July 27,1920 in Plainfield, New Jersey to Frank and Helen Hopkins.
Jean graduated from Trenton State Teachers College in Trenton, New Jersey. She began by teaching Physical Education in New Jersey. In 1945 she married Jack Condon. While her three sons were young she dedicated herself to them. When she reentered the teaching profession she taught fourth grade for a number of years followed by library resource at Longfellow School in Wheaton. In 1992 she and Jack retired and moved to Tennessee, where she served as the church librarian at Cedar Springs Presbyterian Church in Knoxville. In 2007 they returned to the Wheaton area and resided at Windsor Park where she reconnected with family and lifelong friends.
She was active with Women's Bible Fellowship as well as a number of women's Bible studies. She had a passion for reading scripture and Christian literature.
She is survived by two sons, Paul Warren Condon of Rockford, and John Mark (Laurie) Condon of Wheaton, two grandchildren, Caleb Condon and Ariana Condon (Clayton) Garlt, and one great-granddaughter, Arabella Garlt.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Jack in 2007, one son, David Allen Condon in 2008, her parents and two sisters.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 8 at 1:30 P.M. at Windsor Park, 126 Windsor Park Dr. at North Ave., (just west of Gary Ave.) in Carol Stream. A visitation will be held on Friday from 3:30 to 8 P.M. at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St. in Wheaton, IL 60187.
Interment will will be held privately at Wheaton Cemetery.
